Cartwright | Kaminski | Brookhaven National Lab Department of Energy Science Highlight. The work of former University of Alabama PhD student, Dr. Casey Carwright (now postdoc at Utrecht University, Netherlands) was featured in the Department of Energy's Science Highlights [https://www.energy.gov/science/listings/science-highlights]. Together with his thesis adviser, Prof. Matthias Kaminski from the UA Department of Physics and Astronomy, Dr. Cartwright published new calculations providing insights into the dynamics of the chiral magnetic effect in heavy ion collisions. The DOE highlight article can be found here: A Holographic View into QuantumAnomalies [https://www.energy.gov/science/np/articles/holographic-view-quantum-anomalies]. Casey had successfully applied for funding from Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program. With this support, Casey was enabled to work for three months with Brookhaven National Lab scientist, Prof. Dr. Bjoern Schenke, leading to the publication. This work provides one more piece in the puzzle attacked by the AdS4CME Collaboration. Cartwright| Garbiso-Amano | Kaminski | Knipfer
Back at Bama / Preprints and Publications. After one year away Kaminski is back in Tuscaloosa. Recent preprints include one on chaos and pole-skipping from rotating black holes, now published in the Journal of High Energy Physics, which was written with his former PhD students, now postdocs Cartwright and Garbiso-Amano) as well as one on Ultraviolet-regulated theory of non-linear diffusion. Earlier last year, Kaminski and his current PhD student Marco Knipfer released a preprint on Hydrodynamic attractors for the speed of sound in holographic Bjorken flow together with Cartwright. This work is now published in Physical Review D (PRD). |
