During April 17-19, 2017 we have Wilke van der Schee visiting us from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, MA. Wilke is going to lead a set of tutorial sessions during which we are going to discuss and work out numerical methods for holographic thermalization problems. More details about this research area can be found on Wilke's website. Wilke will conclude his visit by giving a colloquium talk at our Department for Physics and Astronomy.
Our PhD student Casey Cartwright has received the graduate council fellowship (GCF) supporting him to study and perform research for 12 months. Congratulations!

Results from our recent preprint were just published in the Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP). This work was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Martin Ammon and Julian Leiber from Jena University in Germany. Julian Leiber was visiting us at UA as an international graduate research exchange student (IGREP) for six weeks during Fall 2016. Kaminski, Koirala, and Wu visited Jena University for a week in Summer 2016. The published paper can be found here.
