Collaboration with mathematician and electronic music artist Dr. Valery Vermeulen (Belgium). Black hole data from numerical calculations is turned into sounds / electronic music through sonification. Sonification is a technique developed since the 1990s, which turns information into sounds. This technique is described in the Sonification Handbook. Dr. Vermeulen has applied sonification to our numerical data among other data. Our article about this data (open access) was published in the Journal of High Energy Physics. The article presents our numerical calculations simulating plasma driven far away from equilibrium as it occurs in e.g. heavy ion collision experiments. In particular, we calculate the correlations between different points in the plasma. See also the public talk I gave on the subject and the example files above.

Connecting the world-wide research community online
|
Beginning with the Corona Pandemic, we have started a world-wide online seminar series about our research area "Applied Holography". We invite one speaker per week on Zoom, attendees can ask questions and discuss. A discussion board allows continued discussions. All talks are archived and accessible on the website.
